Grief can coexist with gratitude.
One does not cancel the other.
You can ache for what was lost and still notice moments of goodness. Feeling thankful does not mean your grief is fading or that your love mattered less. It simply means your heart is large enough to hold more than one truth at the same time.
God does not ask you to choose between sorrow and gratitude.
He meets you in both.
Your grief honors what you loved.
Your gratitude acknowledges what still remains.
Both are sacred.

“Give thanks in all circumstances.”

A Gentle Prayer
God,
Help me hold both grief
and gratitude
without guilt.
Teach me that I do not have
to silence one feeling
to honor the other.
Meet me gently
in the complexity
of this day.
Amen.
