After loss, the future can feel scary.
Not because you didn’t know life could be hard—
but because now you know how quickly everything can change.
Grief teaches the heart to brace.
You may fear more loss.
Fear being alone forever.
Fear getting sick.
Fear making mistakes.
Fear the unknown.
Fear is understandable.
But it cannot be your leader.
God never shames us for fear.
He simply invites us to bring it to Him.
Sometimes faith looks like this:
“Lord, I’m afraid… but I’m giving You today.”
Not next year.
Not the whole rest of your life.
Today.
God’s grace arrives in portions—daily bread, not yearly bread.
He gives strength for the next step, not the whole staircase.
Matthew 6:34 — “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Reflection Questions
- What future fear shows up most for me?
- What is one thing I can entrust to God today?
- What “daily bread” might God be providing that I can notice?
Prayer
Lord, the future feels uncertain. Help me not to live braced for more pain. Give me daily bread—daily strength, daily peace, daily courage. I give You today. Amen.
With hope,
Joan
